Vehicle: 2019 Toyota Tacoma, non-JBL
Unit: Roadanvi X14, 10.2", 6GB+128GB, purchased on Amazon 7/31
SYMPTOM
During an active phone call routed through the head unit, if I shut the vehicle off, the person on the other end of the call hears a very loud noise at the moment the unit powers down and the call transfers back to the phone. I do not hear anything myself, because by then I am out of the vehicle.
The call itself continues normally on my phone afterward. Audio quality during the call is fine. The issue occurs only at the moment of shutdown.
WHAT I HAVE ALREADY CHECKED
- The power off / sleep delay under Factory Setting > ARM Setting is set to 10 seconds. Since that is far longer than a Bluetooth disconnect requires, I do not believe this is a shutdown-timing problem, and I have not changed the value.
- There is no video format or audio mute option exposed anywhere in the Factory Setting menus on this build that i can find.
WHAT I BELIEVE IS HAPPENING
This appears to be a power-down transient in the audio subsystem being transmitted over the Bluetooth uplink before the hands-free link tears down. The microphone path is still active and encoding when the amplifier rails collapse, so the transient goes out to the far party at full level.
This is a known and firmware-fixable class of problem. Mercedes-Benz documented the identical symptom (noise heard only by the called party during a Bluetooth call, traced to head unit microphone circuitry) and resolved it with a software update that mutes the audio path before shutdown.
MY QUESTIONS
1. Is this a known issue on this platform?
2. Is there a firmware update available that mutes the audio path and/or releases the Bluetooth hands-free connection before the unit powers down?
3. If not, can this be raised with your engineering team? It should be a straightforward change to the MCU shutdown sequence: assert amplifier mute and disconnect Bluetooth before power is removed.
4. Is there any setting on this build that would work around it in the meantime?
